Ahhh Hanson... Closest I came to Hanson was promoting their first album when working on the CNA account in the mid 90's. Anyway, onto the point of this reply. Back at college - Wits Technikon in those days, my friend Mike and I monopolised what was played in our studio, much to the disgust of the other eighteen or nineteen people. What we forced upon them was a constant deluge of Pink Floyd and The Who with some Dire Straits chucked in to soften the blow. At home I was listening to a few very obscure 80's bands that based their sound predominantly on keyboard and experimental synth. Eyeless in Gaza was one of those bands -formed by Martyn Bates in 1980 as a duo with Peter Becker, their sound was eclectic to say the least with melodies and vocals sounding so out of tune, they would have made Simon Cowell burst a blood vessel. Nevertheless they remain one of my favourites today. Eyeless in Gaza still hold fond memories of the 80's for me; with song titles like Kodak Ghosts Run Amok and Veil Like Calm they make the Jo'burg traffic a little more bearable.
